The old French Mandate and Ottoman-era architecture of Beirut is one of my favorite things about the city. Beirut, City of Contrasts: Painted cubes in the window of the chic (and outrageously expensive Orient 499) with the old, bombed-out Holiday Inn across the street reflecting back on them.
